make do, or do without! I'm not sure where this old adage came from, but in today's economy, it makes a lot of sense. Wanting to be frugal, and not having an unlimited amount of money, my son & daughter-in-law had an old bureau that they were going to refinish for their new baby. Since little Wes arrived a month early, and took everyone by surprise, my son hadn't yet started on the bureau. With the baby being in the NICU, and spending every free moment with his wife & baby, while trying to work, my hubby volunteered to redo the bureau.
Using the theme of the baby's room decor for inspiration, which is Forest Friends by Carter, here is what hubby came up with. Isn't it adorable?
Here is what the complete bedding set looks like, along with room decor accessories. This isn't Wes' room, but an advertisement for the bedset, found on Ebay. Apparently it's hard to find now.
Some photos of Wes' room.
Pop-Pop & Wes all comfy cozy.
My daughter-in-law didn't want to use the bumper pad that come with the bedding set, due to the somewhat recent recommendations not to use them for the fact that they can be dangerous to the baby. I don't know, I had them for all three of my kids and never had problems, but as you know, let one thing happen to one baby/child, and that item will be banned for the rest of us. Big government again, but that's for another story, and off my soapbox. So, DIL gave me the bumper pad, and asked if I could do something with it, repurpose it another way. Hey, I'm always up for a challenge!
Here I am ripping the bumper pad apart. It's on it's way to being born again! I'll show you those photos soon.
